Motor Vehicle Accident – Route 9 at Loomis Road

Goshen Firefighters, Goshen Police, MA State Police and a crew from Highland Ambulance responded to Route 9 and Loomis Road in the Lithia section of town at 2303 hours for a report of a one car motor vehicle accident – car off the road up the embankment with unknown PI (personal injury).

Highland Ambulance was first on scene and reported that the vehicle was on all four tires, that there was only one occupant and that he was safely out of the vehicle.

The incident occurred when the driver of the car failed to negotiate the stop sign at the end of Loomis Road, crossed both lanes of traffic on Route 9 and embedded his vehicle into the embankment on the northern side of the roadway. The vehicle sustained heavy front end and passenger side damage from coming in contact with the hillside and a large pine tree at the roadway’s edge.

Route 9 was closed down to one lane of traffic until a tow truck operator returned the car to the pavement.

The driver refused medical treatment and was in the hands of local police when firefighters returned to service around midnight.
