1 Year Old Child Seriously Injured; Life Flight called for Transport

GOSHEN, MA – At the request of Highland Ambulance, Goshen Firefighters were called to establish a landing zone at 1201 hours yesterday for a 1 year old child from Ashfield that had suffered a critical injury from a fall in that town.

According to pre-established protocol, the landing zone was set up in the ball field behind the Goshen Town Offices at 40 Main Street. Ashfield Fire Department First Responders and EMT’s worked with Highland Ambulance paramedics to secure the child in a car seat for spinal immobilization.

The child was then transported to the landing zone in Goshen by the ambulance crew and flown to Baystate Medical Center in Springfield by UMASS Memorial Life Flight helicopter.
