Car Into Guardrail Totals Vehicle; Occupants Unharmed

GOSHEN, MA – Goshen Firefighters responded to this motor vehicle crash that occurred last Saturday during a snow storm. The incident took place on Berkshire Trail West just down the hill from the Goshen Stone Company.

The driver of the vehicle, who was traveling east towards Pittsfield, lost control in the slippery conditions. It was fortunate that no cars were heading east at the same time. The vehicle crossed the center line and came in contact with the guardrail on the opposite side of the street then careened back to the other side of the roadway were it went into a drainage basin, slammed into another guardrail and come to a stop.

Berkshire Trail West - The vehicle was traveling westbound (in the direction Engine 2 is facing), crossed the roadway and bounced off the guardrail in the eastbound lane before coming back across the street and hitting a guardrail in the westbound lane.

Surprisingly, the airbags did not deploy. It appears that the front bumper of the car went under the guardrail in the drainage basin. Luckily, the two occupants refused treatment from Highland Ambulance personnel.
