CHESTERFIELD, MA – A malfunctioning heater caused billows of smoke but no fire in a Chesterfield garage yesterday, Fire Chief Gilman Smith said.
Firefighters from Chesterfield were on the scene at 11 Damon Pond Road, the home of Marge Pringle, within minutes of the call early Monday afternoon. There were no injuries or structural damages, said Fire Chief G. Gilman Smith.
Firefighters from Goshen and Williamsburg, as well as Highland Ambulance, responded to the call but were turned away. ”It’s better to have them show up and then leave than to not have them at all and wish they were here,” said Smith.
