GOSHEN, MA – The Board of Selectmen will meet with a representative of Amrac Cable Co. of Waltham tomorrow night to determine whether any progress has been made by the company in finding a site to establish a tower and reception station for cable service to the town.

The selectmen will be visited by Amrac representative Barbara Striebert and Chesterfield selectmen at the Veterans Day meeting, at which there will be no votes taken since it is a holiday. Chesterfield and Goshen chose Amrac to provide cable service to the two towns.

The project has been delayed by the failure of Amrac to find a suitable site for its reception station. The company had initially planned to rent 10 feet of vertical space on an 180-foot tower next to the Goshen Fire Station, but balked at the annual rental fee of $6,000 that was asked. Striebert said her company could build a tower for $9,000 and is currently seeking property in Goshen on which to build the tower.

Striebert said she has been having difficulty following up one suggested site since the owner of the property has been unavailable. She said another option would be to build the tower and station in Chesterfield, but she said that would not happen until all possibilities in Goshen had been exhausted.
