HISTORY
In 1779, John Williams built his house where he opened a tavern, general store and inn to serve local citizens as well as travelers on their way to Albany from Boston. In 1817, when the office of postmaster was established, John was appointed postmaster and the tavern / general store / inn officially became the post office as well.
