GOSHEN, MA – The members of the Goshen Fire Department would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the taxpayers of the Town of Goshen.
At the 2019 Annual Town Meeting, voters approved expending $51,000 from the Fire Department Vehicle Stabilization account to pay for the replacement of the 2007 Fire Department SUV.
Eight long months later, the new Car 1 was delivered this week.
The 2020 Toyota Tundra SR5 Double Cab was configured with a TRD Off-Road package, a Leer cap, and a 6’ Extendobed which makes for easy access to our equipment.
Other features of the vehicle include the following:
- a 5.7 liter V8 double overhead cam engine,
- 6-speed automatic transmission
- 4 wheel drive
- tow package capable of towing 10,000 lbs.
- 38 gallon fuel tank
- 2 Motorola mobile radios that were taken from the previous Car 1 (one for Hampshire County frequencies, one for Franklin County frequencies)
The primary purpose of this vehicle, and its extra equipment, is to respond immediately to an incident and begin to mitigate or set up a response plan. The vehicle also provides transportation for administrative duties of the chief (permits, inspections…) and training.
This vehicle replaces our original Car 1 – a 2007 Ford Explorer – which the town purchased in 2007 at a cost of $30,000.
