GOSHEN, MA – At 2018 hours yesterday, Goshen firefighters were called mutual aid to the town of Ashfield to assist their department with setting up a landing zone for a Life Star helicopter.
Goshen responded with ten members in Engine 2, Brush 1, Rescue 1, and Car 1 to the Ashfield Highway Department yard on Cape Street in that town.
Ashfield Fire was at the scene of a motor vehicle accident on Norton Hill Road where the driver of the vehicle had sustained serious injuries.
The Life Star helicopter, which is based at Barnes Regional Airport in Westfield, MA and is the only air ambulance service in western Massachusetts, was requested and landed shortly before Highland Ambulance arrived with the patient.
