DAR Fire Tower Alert Leads to Quick Suppression

GOSHEN, MA –At 15:16 hours yesterday, Goshen Fire was alerted by the DAR Fire Tower of smoke rising in the vicinity of Sears Rd. The tower has been staffed due to high potential fire conditions. After a 911 call from a resident and search by Chief in Car 1, the fire was discovered on Shaw Rd. in the rear of a yard. The fire was spreading into the woods and covered 1/4 acre.

Chief Lacey immediately requested Cummington Fire for additional water.

Firefighters deployed a hose line from Brush 1, a backpack tank, and created a fire line to suppress the spread. Within ten minutes of arrival the fire was contained.

Engine 2 deployed a hose line to water down hot spots. Volunteers were on scene for about an hour.
