COLRAIN, MA – Nine area firefighters have committed the last 6 weeks to RIT, Rapid Intervention Team, training. RIT training prepares firefighters to save firefighters that are in distress.
Under the guidance of Capt. Kassell and Colrain’s RIT program, the firefighters have drilled in life saving skills and scenarios that can occur on a fireground. Skills taught include: firefighter conversions, drags, hoists, team orientation, mayday communication, building softening and others.
The team is composed of volunteers from Chesterfield, Cummington, Goshen, Plainfield and Williamsburg. The program is to be completed in the next couple of weeks.
A special thank you to the Colrain RIT. They have volunteered considerable time and expertise to helping our area departments.
