Single Car Motor Vehicle Crash Sends Two to the Hospital

GOSHEN, MA – Goshen firefighters, police and Highland Ambulance personnel were dispatched to Route 9 in the vicinity of the Spruce Corner Restaurant at 1219 hours for a report of a single car motor vehicle crash.

The driver of the Dodge minivan was heading east on Route 9 (Berkshire Trail West) when he lost control on the snow covered roadway, crossed the center line and came in contact with a guardrail in the westbound breakdown lane. The force of the impact caused both front airbags to deploy. The vehicle then careened off the guardrail, travelled back across the roadway and came in contact with the guardrail on that side of the street before coming to a stop in the eastbound breakdown lane.

Both occupants of the car were unrestrained and sustained significant injuries.

The driver was able to get himself out of the vehicle. However, the passenger needed to be loaded onto a backboard in the van before being extricated and transferred to the stretcher.
