Tragic Fire in Cummington Claims a Life

Yesterday morning, 5:45 am, Goshen firefighters responded to the town of Cummington, 9 Thayer Corner Rd, for a fully involved structure fire. Chief responded in Car 1 and four firefighters followed in Engine 7 and Rescue 1.
Upon arrival we setup a secondary water supply and attack line to support Cummington Fire’s efforts from another side of the home.
Goshen Fire units stayed on scene until 2 pm with other area firefighters to cool hotspots and support recovery efforts.
As reported in several news outlets, one resident sadly did not survive the fire.
Our thoughts and prayers go out to the victim, the family and the tight community within that special part of town.
While we train and work to protect our neighbors, their property and the environment, it is not always possible.
All apparatus and personnel were back in service by 3:30 pm.
