Tree on Wires Closes Roadway

GOSHEN, MA – Goshen firefighters were called to Ball Road at 1925 hours tonight for a report of a tree on wires blocking the road. Heavy, wet snow from today’s storm had been replaced with high winds and temperatures hovering near the freezing mark.

First arriving units confirmed the initial report and requested support from National Grid. Their crew arrived within 20 minutes and was able to cut away the part of the tree that was putting tension on power and telephone lines. However, the equipment they were using wasn’t big enough to take care of the entire tree.

A call for help was then made for the Goshen Highway department with a specific request to bring a front end loader – which they did.

Within two hours, the road was once again passable.
