Truck Jackknifes

Union-News (Springfield, MA)

GOSHEN, MA – A Springfield man was injured yesterday after his tractor-trailer jackknifed, the gas tank was punctured and he slipped on the leaking gas, state police said.

Robert Madory, no age or address available, was treated and released from Cooley Dickinson Hospital in Northampton after the 8:25 a.m. accident. Madory was driving a truck owned by Lane Construction of Westfield on Route 9 and turning onto Route 112 when he had brake problems and his truck jackknifed, police said. A citation was issued for defective equipment, police said.

The flat-bed trailer punctured the gas tank, which spilled about 75 gallons, police said. Clean Berkshire of Lanesboro was hired to do the clean-up, which lasted until 2:30 p.m.
