TWO NEW FIREFIGHTERS – WEST AND ED
Goshen Fire congratulates two newly trained firefighters.
Ed and West have completed the Basic Six Academy with Hampshire county and thereby took the first big step towards making their community safer.
The local academy takes approximately 2 months to complete and consists of a lot of weekends. It’s a big impact on a firefighter’s and their family’s lives. Firefighters learn basic fireground operations, ladders, hose lines, PPE, search, and more.
Instructors often remind recruits that the academy is just the beginning of their learning. While those instructors are absolutely right that it takes a long time to learn all the tasks, completing the Basic 6 is an accomplishment.
